The park’s dwindling attendance record and successive attempts to sell off the land to the neighboring Coast Guard Academy reveal deeper problems with New London’s historical development. In Riverside park’s heyday it was a celebration of New London’s affluence, featuring the Yale-Harvard Regatta and recreational all year round beginning in 1893. However following the segregation of the greater Hodges Square area by the construction of I-95, isolation caused neglect. New London citizens rescued the park in 2011, creating the Riverside Park Conservancy to ensure its survival. </text>

It was taken outside Fanning Hall, capturing a group of approximately thirty students engaging in the overnight sit in. The individuals captured in this image are filling the sidewalk and steps leading into Fanning Hall, the administrative building of Connecticut College. The majority of the subjects are facing towards the building while others are facing towards one another as they appear to be engaging in conversation. There is a car parked nearby the crowds, and it seems like the people are hindering some faculties from entering the building. Several students involved were part of the College's Afro-American Society, and took part in this peaceful protest because they wanted to take action towards creating a more diverse campus.</text>

</text>
